Why do I need an aquarium heater?
Fish may live in water, but they still need heat. This is especially true of tropical fish, and fish originating from Africa or South America. Do some research to determine what temperatures your fish are most comfortable at and purchase your heater accordingly.

Because I have a Rena 300 and it smartheater sucks! The first thing I do not work in a year so I had it replaced under warranty. Then a year later, the replacement does not work anymore! Was disappointing when you put your foot in the bath massage and after 3 minutes it was too cold. Would be good if I could put in an aquarium heater to keep warm longer. Only question is - whether they are considered safe for that purpose? ... Thanks, Yuval
